Magic Happens Love Notes Envelope Book

Hi Everyone,

I was going to post a card today but remembered I wanted to show you this Love Notes envelope book that I made for my daughter just before I went to Melbourne in June.  I only decided to do it about 2 days before I left and also made one for my older son as well so the designs are pretty simple (as I didn’t have heaps for time!) but you could definitely do more embellishing or even add photos if you wanted to.  I saw a book like this a few years ago using Kaisercraft products – I think someone had made one for a valentines project, so the basic idea isn’t my original idea and I am not entirely sure where I saw it otherwise I would provide the link.  The design of this book though is my work.

I remember reading The Hungry Caterpillar book as a kid and we also read it to our kids.  If you are familiar with the book you will know it starts out with On Sunday  . . . .  and then On Monday the little caterpillar ate  . . . . and then On Tuesday  the little caterpillar ate . . . . etc so I decided to make it with a page for each day of the week and I wrote the kids a note for each of the days that I would be away so that they could open it and read something from me.  They loved it and the the plan is to continue to write them little notes every so often to put in their book.  I made an extra pocket for them to keep notes from daddy or their friends or each other or other family. Since it is an envelope book I can still add more envelopes if I want to.

My daughter’s book was made out of the Magic Happens Collection (it is an older collection but Kaisercraft have released paper pads so you can still get the papers).  Each page was also spritzed  lightly with a bit of Calico Shine (one of my favourite products!).  I stamped Hero Arts envelope pattern stamp on the envelopes and inked the edges with Victorian Velvet distress ink so to dress them up a little.  The butterfly on the front is a Prima Canvas Resist Shape (love these!)

So here are some pics (I won’t show every page as I don’t want to overload you with photos but these should give you the general idea if you want to have a go at one yourself – Let me know if you do by leaving a comment as I would love to see).

I am planning to make one for my husband for Fathers Day out of the Classic Calico Papers and the kids can put notes in it.

Hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

Kristy
